Business Analyst (Healthcare Interoperability)

This is a remote position.

Job Description: The Business Analyst – Healthcare Interoperability serves as a critical liaison between business stakeholders, clinical teams, and technical delivery teams to support the design and implementation of interoperability solutions. This role focuses on requirements management, process optimization, and ensuring alignment with healthcare standards such as HL7 FHIR, while maintaining regulatory compliance and delivering business value.

Responsibilities:

• Elicit, analyze, document, and validate business and functional requirements for healthcare interoperability initiatives.
• Collaborate with clinical, operational, and IT stakeholders to understand workflows, data exchange needs, and integration scenarios.
• Translate business needs into functional specifications, user stories, use cases, and process flows.
• Support implementation of interoperability standards (e.g., HL7 FHIR), ensuring alignment with healthcare data models and regulatory requirements.
• Analyze existing systems, interfaces, and workflows to identify gaps, dependencies, and improvement opportunities.
• Partner with technical teams to ensure requirements are feasible, traceable, and accurately implemented.
• Participate in solution design sessions, ensuring business rules and data requirements are properly captured.
• Support testing activities including test case design, UAT coordination, and validation of business scenarios.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation in accordance with project governance and compliance standards.
• Support change management by assessing the impacts of requirement changes and facilitating stakeholder communication.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Business Analyst in Healthcare IT, interoperability, or system integration projects.
• Strong understanding of healthcare data exchange standards, particularly HL7 FHIR (HL7 v2 knowledge is a plus).
• Experience working with APIs, integration platforms, ETL processes, or data exchange solutions.
• Solid understanding of healthcare workflows, clinical data, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, data privacy).
• Experience with Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies.
• Ability to manage requirements lifecycle from elicitation to implementation and validation.

Technical Skills:

• Knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards (HL7 FHIR, HL7 v2).
• Experience with APIs, RESTful services, and integration architectures.
• Familiarity with data mapping, transformation, and ETL concepts.
• Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar).
• Process modeling and documentation tools (e.g., Visio, BPMN).
• Understanding system integration and data exchange mechanisms.
